    Katja has been in charge of the bat emergency care station and the bat emergency hotline of the Bat Protection Foundation since 2020. In this role, she looks after the native bats that come to the station for medical care and rehoming. She also leads a team of over thirty volunteers, works in the areas of species conservation, research and education and is responsible for public relations and fundraising.

    Three questions for Katja

    Your motivation for the bat project?

    My great passion for conservation and my fascination for bats. These animals play a crucial role in our ecosystem and need our sympathy more than ever.

    An unforgettable moment in your project?

    Every succesful care and release into the wild of a bat previously found in great distress or injured is a highlight in itself.

    Your greatest wish for your project?

    That our work will inspire many more people about these fascinating animals and that together we can sustainably protect and promote native bat species and their habitats!

    My projects
